The government and major automakers have agreed on the deal for more than a decade to make the switch. The deal will have a total price tag of around $400 million, with a final budget in the next two years up to $2 billion.
Ford, a carmaker, said the deal will be good for the economy and consumers since it will pay for production of the cars they drive.
Ford spokeswoman Laura Loeffler wrote in an e-mail that the decision to move the “wholesale sale” was made after review of the contract.

S&P, a carmaker, said it believed U.S. manufacturing would continue to contribute to the country’s current global economy.
Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne said it would be “a tremendous boon” to “our American businesses. The U.S. has been a key producer of our cars for a long time but only recently has the manufacturing industry embraced the U.S. market.”

The Mercedes-Benz C63-V Tourer is now being recalled due to safety problems at the British and Italian markets.
The four-door crossover was built in 2007 and was designed to meet VW’s strict emission reduction rules. While the first three models have been recalled, two were tested under the same safety standards and the third was not at the start of the recall process, recalls were subsequently ordered.
Volkswagen has been the subject of numerous safety scandals, including two in Europe, and is currently at the forefront of two legal proceedings in the country.
The Volkswagen scandal will continue for another three years but it has now been reported that U.S. prosecutors are trying to prosecute Volkswagen for the recall.
